Robots and jobs: the 0.3% catch

Ce que dit la vidéo

Narration en anglais.

Robots can already do 74% of physical tasks in America. So why haven't they taken those jobs? Anthropic, the company behind Claude, had its AI rate 19,000 job tasks. Many robot tasks only work in factory-like settings.

The catch: robots are cheaper than people for just 0.3% of work. One win, packing boxes: a year of work costs about $45,000 for a robot and $49,000 for a worker. But welding robots cost about 5 times as much as welders, and dishwashing robots several times more.

Robot costs fall about 3% a year; at that pace it takes about 40 years before they're cheaper for even 10% of work. Most exposed: drivers. Least: nurses. What's your job?
